On Occupational Outlook, you can look up information about what career you want to go into. There is a search bar where you can search for any career you are interested in and information about it will appear.
For example, I looked up writing. The website showed information about the career as a whole and went into details about the pay, education needed, and experience needed. The median pay in 2016 was $61,240. The education needed is a bachelor’s degree and you don’t need any prior experience. The website also shows what kind of different writing careers there are. Such as fiction and non-fiction writing, writing for newspapers, or writing for advertising websites. It also goes into detail about important information for each career option.
Advertising:
Advertising has the highest amount of employees (Around 7,000) and has one of the highest employment rates. Unfortunately, the pay from advertising isn’t a lot. The average annual wage for someone in this profession is $76,360, making advertising one of the least paying careers in writing.
Newspaper:
A career in writing for a newspaper also has low pay. The average annual wage is $57,800. Not a lot of people go into this profession. The amount of employees is only 4,970, and employment is increasing at a very low rate.
Writers and Independent Artists:
Authors are paid the most compared to all other writing professions. The average annual wage is $100,400. The amount of employees is only around 3,000, but the rate of employees increases the highest in this profession.
As you can see, Occupational Outlook is great for finding information about any career you want to go into.
