Morgan State University is an HBCU located in Baltimore, Maryland. It was founded in 1872 as the Centenary Biblical Institute, and was renamed in 1890 after Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, the first chairman in its Board of Trustees. Since then, the school has gone through some notable changes. MSU started as a Methodist Episcopal seminary that trained men in the ministry, now it is the largest HBCU in Maryland and it helps give students a better education in many subjects.

Academic Programs

MSU has a wide array of academic programs for multiple degree levels. For classes leading to a bachelor degree, they have programs that range from accounting to visual arts. Classes leading to a master’s degree have programs that include African American Studies, middle and elementary school education, public health, and transportation. Programs such as bio-environmental sciences, history, and urban educational leadership are usually for classes leading to a doctorate degree. MSU also has online programs that include community college leadership and master of social work.

Student Life

Student life on the MSU campus is pretty nice. MSU provides on and off campus housing for their students. Application

The website also gives students the option to apply online. It also goes into detail about what information is needs to be included in the application. The application requirements are: fill out the online application in the fall or spring, the student’s evaluated academic records, English language proficiency, financial information, visas and passports, essay, letter of recommendation and SAT/ACT scores.

Tuition and Financial aid

The in-state tuition for MSU is $7,378, out-of-state is $16,862. Financial aid is available to any student that needs it. To qualify for financial aid a student must first fill out FAFSA and verification forms.
